WHEREAS, Gary Thomas has been an active and involved volunteer and leader for Fort
Collins and the Northern Colorado community over the past thirteen years; and
WHEREAS, as the long-time Director for Senior Alternatives in Transportation
(SAINT), Mr. Thomas helped organize volunteers to ensure mobility options for senior citizens;
and
WHEREAS, he has served as a citizen member of Budgeting For Outcomes (BFO)
budget teams for the past six years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas has represented the Northern Colorado region in efforts to
improve Colorado air quality by serving on the Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) from
2014 to 2017; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas served four terms over eleven years on the Fort Collins
Transportation Board, including roles as Vice Chair and Board Chair from 2006 to 2010; and
WHEREAS, he served on and has led numerous citizen committees and efforts related to
transportation infrastructure, maintenance, and multi-modal funding initiatives, including
Building on Basics, Regional Transportation Authority, Keep Fort Collins Great, and
Community Capital Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas will soon be moving from Fort Collins and relocating to
Pueblo, Colorado.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Wade Troxell, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
recognize and express our thanks and gratitude to
GARY THOMAS
for his exceptional leadership, his passion for helping find community-supported solutions, and
for tirelessly working to help improve and maintain transportation infrastructure and provide
effective mobility options for all within our city.
