WHEREAS, Colorado State University’s Institute for the Built Environment (IBE) has
guided the development of sustainable, healthy buildings in our community since its
establishment in 1994; and
WHEREAS, IBE has provided in-depth education for more than 1,200 Northern
Colorado architects, planners, engineers, builders, city officials, and CSU students about
sustainable real estate development and healthy, green building; and
WHEREAS, IBE has contributed to Colorado State University’s nationally recognized
sustainability policies and practices and has guided project teams in Northern Colorado and
across the United States in the creation of healthy, efficient, LEED certified buildings; and
WHEREAS, IBE has contributed to Poudre School District’s exemplary high-
performing green schools; and
WHEREAS, IBE has facilitated and conducted green building research with CSU faculty
and staff for the benefit of green schools and other initiatives globally; and
WHEREAS, IBE has guided project teams through the City of Fort Collins’ highly
regarded Integrated Design Assistance Program; and
WHEREAS, IBE has been designated as a Program of Research and Scholarly
Excellence by CSU’s Vice-President for Research and is helping to lead a national and
international movement toward healthy, regenerative buildings and cities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins seeks to celebrate with its residents the many ways
that the Institute for the Built Environment helps to make this a world-class community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Wade Troxell, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim August 2019 as the
25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INSTITUTE FOR
THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
Collins this 20th day of August, A.D. 2019.
