WHEREAS, on behalf of the City of Fort Collins, I wish to honor Ann Azari, a resident
of Fort Collins from 1963 until her passing in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Ann served as a City Councilmember from 1989-1993, Fort Collins Mayor
from 1993-1999; and
WHEREAS, Ann was a proud member of the City’s Cultural Diversity Task Force; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure with the City, Ann Azari provided significant service and
direct benefits to the community by bringing together diverse interest groups and fostering a
tradition of inclusivity that has enduring historical significance in the City’s growth; and
WHEREAS, Ann served on the executive board of the Colorado Municipal League and
on the boards of the Downtown Development Authority, the Fort Collins Area Chamber of
Commerce, the League of Women Voters of Larimer County, the Platte River Power Authority,
and the Girl Scouts Council; and
WHEREAS, she owned and operated an imports store, Caspian Ltd., located in
downtown Fort Collins; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins seeks to honor Ann Azari’s lasting legacy of
exceptional leadership and commitment to the community; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Wade Troxell, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
honor
ANN AZARI
by recognizing her passion for our city, her many years of public service, and her strong,
community-oriented leadership.
