HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 10/02/2018 - PROCLAMATION DECLARING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 5-7, 20PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, meaningful rivalries among communities include the distinct characteristics of proximity, competition, cooperation, and history and WHEREAS, alumni of institutions of higher education like Colorado State University, the University of Wyoming, and Laramie County Community College live, work, and play together and have done so for more than one hundred years, and WHEREAS, community rivalries carry sentiments of mutual respect, adventure and interdependence and WHEREAS, these characteristics are clearly present between Fort Collins and communities in Wyoming such as Cheyenne and Laramie; and WHEREAS, the downtown Fort Collins' regional trade area includes Southern Wyoming, Southwest Nebraska and Northern Colorado; and WHEREAS, 307 Wyoming Appreciation Weekend is part of the Downtown Fort Collins Business Association's efforts to recognize the importance of our neighbors from Wyoming to the on-going economic success of downtown Fort Collins; and WHEREAS, the Downtown Fort Collins Business Association would like to extend an invitation to Wyoming residents to celebrate the long-standing relationship and competitive spirit and interdependence; and WHEREAS, participating downtown Fort Collins businesses will welcome Wyoming residents and showcase the best entertainment, dining, and shopping experiences Old Town has to offer; and WHEREAS, a delegation from Fort Collins has traveled to Cheyenne to personally invite our neighbors to Wyoming Appreciation Weekend. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mayor Wade Troxell, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins , do hereby proclaim October 5-7, 2018 as WYOMING APPRECIATION WEEKEND IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort Collins this 2nd day of October, A.D. 2018. __________________________________ Mayor ATTEST: _________________________________ City Clerk
