WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins includes a community of older Americans who
deserve recognition for their contributions to our nation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins recognizes that older adults are trailblazers,
advocating for themselves, their peers, and their communities and paving the way for future
generations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins and the Fort Collins Senior Center are committed to
raising awareness about issues facing older Americans and helping all individuals to thrive in
communities of their choice for as long as possible; and
WHEREAS, we appreciate the value of inclusion and support in helping older adults
successfully contribute to and benefit from their communities; and
WHEREAS, the Fort Collins Senior Center is a gathering place where older adults come
together for activities and services that enhance their dignity, maintain their well-being, support
their independence, foster lifelong learning, and encourage their involvement in the community.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Wade Troxell, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim September 2017 to be
NATIONAL SENIOR CENTER MONTH
and urge every resident to take time this month to acknowledge older adults and take a visit to
the Fort Collins Senior Center to see this nationally accredited center in operation.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
