HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 10/07/2014 - PROCLAMATION DECLARING OCTOBER 11, 2014, AS POUDREPROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Poudre High School, founded in 1964, is recognized for its contribution to the community, Poudre School District, Colorado State University, and all graduates who have entered into the professional world today; and WHEREAS, Poudre High School is a place of learning, where shared decision making prepares students for the pathways of the world; and WHEREAS, Poudre High School staff believe in educating every child, every day, with rigor, relevancy and relationships; and WHEREAS, Poudre High School has been recognized yearly since 2003 by Newsweek magazine as one of the top high schools in the nation; and WHEREAS, over 16,000 students have graduated from Poudre High School in the past fifty years; and WHEREAS, Reid Pope, the first principal of Poudre High School, is recognized as the Honorary Chair of the fifty year gala; and WHEREAS, Poudre High School will have ongoing celebration events from October 9 through October 11, 2014, at the Silver Grill, Poudre High School, the Homecoming football game and the gala at the Marriott Hotel. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Karen Weitkunat, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby declare October 11, 2014 as POUDRE HIGH SCHOOL DAY and congratulate the students, staff and alumni on 50 years of excellence in education, as Poudre High School looks forward to its next 50 years of educating young people.
