Resolution 2017-035 Expressing Gratitude and Appreciation to Gino Campana for His Contributions to the Community as a Councilmember. 2. Election of Mayor Pro Tem (2-Year Term). The Charter provides that the Council shall elect a Mayor Pro Tem who shall act as Mayor during the absence or disability of the Mayor. 3. Resolution 2017-036 Making Interim Council Committee Appointments. The purpose of this item is to make interim appointments to Council Committees to fill vacancies created by outgoing Councilmember Campana.  ADJOURNMENT A RECEPTION WILL BE HELD IN THE COUNCIL INFORMATION CENTER (CIC) FOLLOWING THE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING -1- RESOLUTION 2017-035 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS EXPRESSING GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION TO GINO CAMPANA FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY AS A COUNCILMEMBER WHEREAS, Gino Campana was elected as a City Councilmember on April 2, 2013, took office on April 09, 2013, and has served a full term on City Council through April 11, 2017; and WHEREAS, Councilmember Campana has served as the Council liaison to the Golf Board, Landmark Preservation, Parks and Recreation Board, Planning and Zoning Board, and Zoning Board of Appeals; and WHEREAS, during his tenure Councilmember Campana has also served as a member of the City/Colorado State University Leadership Committee, Downtown Development Authority, Ethics Review Board, Futures Committee, and Legislative Review Committee; and WHEREAS, Councilmember Campana has been a strong collaborator and has shown great commitment and consideration to the residents of Fort Collins weighing social, environmental and economic impacts in policy decisions, and seeking positive solutions that position the community well for the future; and WHEREAS, Councilmember Campana has brought a depth of expertise in development issues, including 8 years of service on the Planning & Zoning Board and serving as a member to the City Plan Advisory Committee and was instrumental in projects including the mall redevelopment and the Woodward headquarters expansion; and WHEREAS, Councilmember Campana was instrumental in having the City of Fort Collins declared the first “It’s On Us” community in the U.S. by the White House and has advanced the prevention of sexual assault throughout the nation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the City expresses its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Gino Campana for his service and contributions to the community as District 3 Councilmember. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The purpose of this item is to make interim appointments to Council Committees to fill vacancies created by outgoing Councilmember Campana. BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION Outgoing Councilmember Campana served on the Ethics Review Board, the Futures Committee, and the Legislative Review Committee. To ensure that committee work continues between now and the adoption of an appointments resolution after the May12-13 Council Retreat (when appointments will be discussed), Council will consider Resolution 2017-036 to make interim appointments to refill those committee seats. 1 Packet Pg. 4 -1- RESOLUTION 2017-036 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS MAKING INTERIM COUNCIL COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS WHEREAS, the City Council regularly appoints Councilmembers to serve on City Council boards and committees, and to act as liaisons for Council-appointment advisory boards and commissions of the City, during the months following a regular City election; and WHEREAS, that appointment process takes several weeks’ time in order to allow all members of Council to revisit and consider which appointments are of interest to them; and WHEREAS, the departure from the City Council of Councilmember Gino Campana has resulted in vacancies on three Council boards and committees that the Council desires to fill on an interim basis pending the completion of the full board and committee appointment process. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the following named Councilmembers be, and they hereby are, appointed to serve on the following Council boards and committees, to fill the vacancy resulting from the departure of Councilmember Gino Campana from the Council, until such time as the Council may reconsider such appointments: ETHICS REVIEW BOARD Councilmember Ken Summers FUTURES COMMITTEE Councilmember Ken Summers LEGISLATIVE REVIEW COMMITTEE Councilmember Ken Summers Passed and adopted at a special meeting of the City Council held this 11th day of April, A.D. 2017.
