WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins recognizes that the Fort Collins Museum of Art, a
non-profit organization, has, for over thirty years, uniquely served the Fort Collins community
and Colorado with the most innovative and engaging local, regional and national art exhibitions
and educational programming; and
WHEREAS, the Lincoln Center, Fort Collins’ leader in cultural experience since 1978,
presents diverse rotating exhibitions, programs and projects engaging and inspiring our
community through the world of art and ideas; and
WHEREAS, the Fort Collins Museum of Art and the Lincoln Center Gallery are co-
presenting the “Speaking Volumes: Transforming Hate” exhibition from January 20, 2017–
March 19, 2017; and
WHEREAS, “Speaking Volumes: Transforming Hate” showcases the diverse work of
39 artists from around the country who have transformed thousands of anti-Semitic and racist
books into an uplifting and dynamic exhibition; and
WHEREAS, racism, censorship, and bullying can be fought and addressed in a visually
powerful, thought-provoking, sometimes humorous, always challenging, and ultimately deeply
moving fashion by works of art and by the “Speaking Volumes: Transforming Hate” exhibition
displayed at these two venues in Fort Collins.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Wade Troxell. Mayor of the City of Fort Collins do hereby
proclaim Friday, January 20, 2017 as
TRANSFORMING HATE DAY
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
