PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, cancer is the second most common cause of death in the United States,
accounting for nearly 1 of every 4 deaths; and
WHEREAS, men have slightly less than a 50% lifetime risk of developing cancer and
women have a little over 33% risk; and
WHEREAS, Colorado is projected to have over 24,000 new cases of cancer in 2015; and
WHEREAS, by raising public awareness of cancer, the State of Colorado seeks to
minimize the devastating effects of the illness among Coloradans; and
WHEREAS, Front Range Cancer Specialists is committed to supporting cancer research
and fostering excellence in cancer care; and
WHEREAS, the Eleventh Annual Run For Hope 5k will be held on August 15, 2015, to
help fight against cancer by educating about cancer prevention, early detection, treatment and
research for a cure.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Wade Troxell, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim August 2015 as
CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
Collins this 21st day of July, A.D. 2015.
