HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 05/01/2001 - PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF MAY AS PRESE Mayor City of Fort Collins PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, historic preservation is an effective tool for managing growth, revitalizing neighborhoods, fostering local pride, and maintaining community character while enhancing livability; and WHEREAS,historic preservation is relevant far communities across the nation, both urban and rural, and for Americans of all ages, all walks of life, and all ethnic backgrounds; and WHEREAS, it is important to celebrate the role of history in our lives and the contributions made by dedicated individuals in helping to preserve the tangible aspects of the heritage that has shaped us as a people, and WHEREAS, "Embracing the Future Through Our Intriguing Past!" is the theme for Colorado Archeology and Historic Preservation Month, 2001, cosponsored by the City of Fort Collins and the representative groups of the Heritage Network of Fort Collins. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim the week of the month of May as PRESERVATION MONTH in the city of Fort Collins and call upon our community to join their fellow citizens across Colorado in recognizing and participating in this special observance.
