City of Fort Collins
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Hispanic communiy of Fort Collins has designated the weekend of May
4-6 to share its heritage and culture with the residents of Fort Collins and surrounding
communities; and
WHEREAS, Cinco de Mayo celebrates the diversiy of the Fort Collins community and
has become an integral part of the communiy; and
WHEREAS, on Friday, May 4 a Kick-Off Celebration will be held at the Lory Student
Center Plaza on the Colorado State Universiy campus; the following day activities will be held in
Old Town Square with a dance scheduled at the Lincoln Center later that evening,• and on May
6 the festivities will culminate at "The Day of the Family" celebration at the Northside Atzlan
Center, and
WHEREAS, through the celebration the festivities provide cultural awareness and
knowledge to the communiy through music, arts,food, and educational experience.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the Ci y of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim May 4-6, 2001 as
THE CINCO DE AMYO CELEBRATION
in the ciy of Fort Collins and urge all residents to participate in scheduled events.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
