HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 09/18/2001 - PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 20 THROUGH OCTO Mayor city of Fort Collins PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, homecoming is a time for alumni to return to their alma mater to celebrate, reminisce and rekindle friendships and for students to show support and pride for their school;and WHEREAS, the community homecoming parade and other homecoming events are unique in bringing together members of the Fort Collins family; and WHEREAS, the homecoming parade has grown every year since 1994, and as Fort Collins grows, the homecoming parade remains one of our few community traditions; and WHEREAS, bringing Colorado State University students together with Poudre School District students provides a wonderful experience because our diversity makes us a stronger, more interesting community; and WHEREAS, this year's theme of"Community Homecoming 2001: Close Encounters of the Fort Kind" helps us to focus on humankind, and our need for a sense of community; and WHEREAS, the students of Colorado State Ultiversity, Poudre School District and Front Range Community College along with the City of Fort Collins, Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Business Association and Fort Collins Senior Center all work together on these community-wide events. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim September 20 through October 19, 2001 as the annual COMMUNITY HOMECOMING CELEBRATION and encourage citizens to attend the various events planned for Community Homecoming Month.
