RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends adoption of the Ordinance on Second Reading.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
This Ordinance,which was adopted by a vote on 6-1 on November 20,2001,amends Section 2-575
of the City Code to set the 2002 compensation of Councilmembers at $575 and the compensation
of the Mayor at$860.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends adoption of the Ordinance on First Reading.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Article II, Section 3 of the City Charter provides th mp tion of Councilmembers shall be
adjusted annually for inflation in accordance with th oulder Consumer Price Index. In

BACKGROUND:
At the April 8, electi electorate of the Ci f Fort Collins approved an amendment to
the City the compensation o ouncilmembers and the Mayor at $500 and
$730, ectively. In additio er ame ent added language requiring the amounts of
Cou compensation to be adjus inflation in accordance with the Denver/Boulder
Con er Price Index. The history of Council compensation since the first adjustment for inflation
