SUBJECT:
Resolution 2001-85 Authorizing a Lease of City-Owned Property at 812 North Shields Street for Up
to Two Years.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends adoption of the Resolution.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Rent collected from this lease will result in approximately $12,000 in unanticipated revenue to
Equipment Fund Reserves. Tenant will pay all utility expenses.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City purchased this parcel of land,including a house and out buildings,as part of the Operations
Services Master Plan. Staff recommends leasing this site until the improvements included in the
Master Plan are constructed to discourage vandalism and to lower City costs to maintain the site.
Staff has been advertising for tenants. The lease will be in effect from August 1,2001 through July
31, 2002 and will give the City the option to renew the lease for an additional year.
RESOLUTION 2001-85
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE LEASE OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTY AT
812 NORTH SHIELDS STREET FOR UP TO TWO YEARS
WHEREAS,the City of Fort Collins is the owner of certain property at 812 North Shields
Street, Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado (the"Property"); and
WHEREAS, the City purchased the Property for facilities provided in the Operations
Services Master Plan to be constructed at a later date; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to lease the Property for a term of one year, with the City
having the option to renew for an additional year, at a monthly rate of at least $1,000; and
WHEREAS,the lease of the Property is beneficial in that it will discourage vandalism and
reduce the City's costs to maintain the Property; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 23-114(a) of the Code of the City of Fort Collins, the
Council is authorized to lease for a term of two years or less any and all interests in real property
owned in the name of the City,provided that Council first finds that the lease is in the best interests
of the City.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That the Council hereby finds that leasing the Property at 812 North Shields Street
as provided herein is in the best interests for the City of Fort Collins.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a lease agreement for the
Property, consistent with the terms of this Ordinance, together with such additional terms and
conditions as the City Manager, in consultation with the City Attorney,determines to be necessary
and appropriate to protect the interests of the City.
