PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the number of elderly and disabled Americans is dramatically increasing;and
WHEREAS, all citizens are impacted by the past and present contributions of America's
elderly and disabled people; and
WHEREAS, we salute our community's citizens, our "Greatest Generation,"now residing
in nursing facilities, many of whom planted the seeds that made our community grow and prosper;
and
WHEREAS, nursing facilities provide caring and supportive services that make quality of
life possible for our loved ones; and
WHEREAS,memberfacilities of the Colorado Health Care Association are providing a host
of activities in observance of National Nursing Home Week, guided by this year's theme
"Celebrating the Seasons of Life," beginning Mother's Day, May 12.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim the week of May 12-18, 2002 as
NATIONAL NURSING HOME WEEK
in the city of Fort Collins and encourage our community's citizens to honor and serve the
individuals who laid thefoundations of Fort Collins by participating in this year's National Nursing
Home Week observance at Columbine Care Center East.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
Collins this 7th day of May, A.D. 2002.
