HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 03/05/2002 - PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING MARCH 16, 2002 AS MULE DE Mayor City of Fort Collins PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Mule Deer Foundation is a non-profit conservation organization dedicated to stopping the decline of the deer in the West; and WHEREAS, the mission of the Mule Deer Foundation is to ensure the conservation of mule and blacktail deer and their habitats through education, member involvement and funding conservation programs; and WHEREAS, the goals of the Foundation are: to restore, improve and protect mule deer habitat resulting in self-sustaining, healthier,free ranging and huntable deer populations; and to encourage and support responsible wildlife management with government agencies, private organizations and landowners; and to promote public education and scientific research related to mule deer and wildlife management; and to support and encourage responsible and ethical behavior and awareness of issues among those whose actions affect mule deer; and to acknowledge regulated hunting as a viable component of mule and blacktail deer conservation; and to influence public policy for the benefit of'mule and blacktail deer conservation. NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of'Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim Saturday, March 16 as Mule Deer Awareness Day in the city of Fort Collins.
