HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 09/03/2002 - PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 8 AS SUSTAINABL Mayor City of Fort Collins PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, renewable energy and sustainable living conserves valuable natural resources, 4a protects the environment, reduces landfill needs,and decreases the dependency on othersfor energy, oil,fuel and more; and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins benefits a greatdeal by implementing renewable energy programs such as wind, solar, hydrogen power, recycling and clean air; and WHEREAS, the State of Colorado benefits greatly from having one of the most successful and extensive renewable energy and sustainable living programs in the nation; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate to encourage continued interest in renewable energy and sustainable living to assist in the enhancement of communities, and in recognition of the principles of these practices; and WHEREAS, the impact of the Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Fair will continue to have positive effects in our community through education, workshops, speakers and demonstrations in this technology; and • WHEREAS, the Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association is a nonprofit, educational organization promoting the growth of renewable energy and sustainable living in Colorado; and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins and its citizens support renewable energy and sustainable living. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim Sunday, September 8, 2002 as SUSTAINABLE LIVING DAY in the city of Fort Collins.
