HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 09/18/2007 - PROCLAMATION DECLARING SEPTEMBER 28, 2007 THROUGH Mayor 6a City of Fort Collins PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, homecoming is a time for alumni to return to their alma mater to celebrate, reminisce and rekindle friendships and for students to show support and pride for their school; and WHEREAS,the community homecoming parade and other homecoming events are unique in bringing together members of the Fort Collins family; and WHEREAS,the community homecoming parade has grown every year since 1994, and as Fort Collins grows, the community homecoming parade remains one of our few community traditions; and WHEREAS, bringing Colorado State University, Front Range Community College and Poudre School District students together provides a wonderful experience because our diversity makes us a stronger, more interesting community; and WHEREAS, this year's theme "Celebrate Homecoming" emphasizes the importance of a place to call home and the necessity of collaboration among all our community entities to achieve our collective goal of becoming"communities of character"; and WHEREAS, the students of Colorado State University, Poudre School District and Front Range Community College along with the City ofFort Collins,the Downtown Business Association, Veterans' Activities Committee and Fort Collins Senior Center all work together on these community-wide events. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Doug Hutchinson, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim September 28 through October 27, 2007 as the annual COMMUNITY HOMECOMING CELEBRATION and encourage citizens to attend the various events planned for Community Homecoming Month.
