Update on the Activities of the Downtown Development Authority and Beet Street.
GENERAL DIRECTION SOUGHT AND SPECIFIC QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED
The purpose of this work session is to update the City Council on the activities of Beet Street and
the Downtown Development Authority(DDA). No specific questions are being posed.
BACKGROUND
BEETSTREET
It has been one year since City Council was given updates on Beet Street and the DDA. During the
2006 budget considerations, Council approved approximately$738,000 for Beet Street operations.
The DDA Board has pledged a total of$3 million to launch the initiative and will be seeking 2008
funding during the upcoming budget hearings. Beet Street staff will address activities that have
occurred in the past 12 months.

DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
In addition to its work on behalf of Beet Street,the DDA has taken action on 14 downtown projects.

• Mason Corridor Funding
• Holiday lights
• Housing Authority
• Robertson Building
• Police Services
2. Tax Increment Financing Legislation Status Report
3. Downtown Sales Tax Report
