PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, to focus the nation's attention on the importance of treating the planet with
reverence through careful stewardship of our natural resources for the long-term benefit of society,
many businesses, industries, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and individuals have
joined together to celebrate Earth Day on April 22; and
WHEREAS, this Earth Day represents the fortieth anniversary of Earth Day as conceived
by the Honorable Senator Gaylord Nelson; and
WHEREAS, while there continue to be many social, economic, and environmental
challenges facing our nation,the Fort Collins community continues to be a leader in addressing these
challenges; and
WHEREAS,both the private and public sectors in Fort Collins are continuously striving to
improve service delivery, products, and technologies that will improve the human condition; and
WHEREAS, the long-term economic and environmental resilience of the Fort Collins
community has greatly benefitted from collaborative efforts such as Climate Wise and the Clean
Energy Cluster.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Doug Hutchinson, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim April 22, 2010 as
EARTH DAY
in the city of Fort Collins.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
Collins this 20th day of April, A.D. 2010.
