Staff recommends adoption of the Ordinance on Second Reading.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This Ordinance,unanimously adopted on First Reading on January 16,2007,amends Section 2-656
of the City Code relating to the report of gifts, honoraria and other benefits, to conform to the state
statute requirement for quarterly reporting.

BACKGROUND
Section 2-656 of the City Code requires every Councilmember who receives any gifts,honoraria or
other benefits in connection with the Councilmember's public service to file a report on or before
January 15 of each year as required by C.R.S. Section 24-6-203. C.R.S. Section 24-6-203 was
recently amended by the state legislature to require that reports of gifts,honoraria or other benefits
be filed quarterly,on or before January 15,April 15,July 15,and October 15 of each year,with each
report covering the period since the last report.
This Ordinance amends Section 2-656 of the City Code to conform to the statutory requirement for
quarterly reporting. COPY

OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING SECTION 2-656 OF THE CODE OF THE
CITY OF FORT COLLINS RELATING TO THE REPORTING
OF GIFTS, HONORARIA AND OTHER BENEFITS
WHEREAS, Section 2-656 of the City Code requires every Councilmember who receives
any gifts, honoraria or other benefits in connection with the Councilmember's public service to file
a report on or before January 15 of each year as required by C.R.S. Section 24-6-203; and
WHEREAS,C.R.S.Section 24-6-203 was recently amended by the state legislature to require
that reports of gifts, honoraria or other benefits be filed quarterly,on or before January 15,April 15,
July 15, and October 15 of each year, with each report covering the period since the last report; and
WHEREAS,the City Council wishes to amend Section 2-656 to reflect the additional reports
required in C.R.S. Section 24-6-203.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that Section 2-656 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Sec. 2-656. Report required.
Every Councilmember who receives from any other person any gifts, honoraria
or other benefits in connection with the Councilmember's public service shall file,on
or before January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15 of each year, a report
covering the period since the last report as required by Section 24-6-203, C.R.S.
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered published this 16th day of
January, A.D. 2007, and to be presented for final passage on the day of February, A.D. 2007.
