BACKGROUND The Regional Transportation Plan(RTP) for the North Front Range is updated every four years by the North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization(NFRMPO). The NFRMPO is currently going through a two-year process to prepare the 2035 RTP. A significant amount of public input and technical research and analysis goes into the Plan. The RTP is important because, in order for a transportation project to receive any state or federal dollars and move into the construction/implementation phase, it must be included in the Regional Plan. The 2035 RTP has several unique features that have not been part of previous plans including: basing the plan on regionally significant corridors,up-front web based environmental analysis, and system testing. An important part of the data collection for the Plan will be a series of chanettes (hands-on workshops) in September where the general public will look at the top tiered corridors and make specific proposals for system testing. There will be several opportunities and ways for the City of Fort Collins to participate and provide feedback and input on the 2035 RTP. Councilmember Kurt Kastein serves as the City's representative on the MPO Council. Don Bachman and Marlys Sittner serve as staff representatives on the MPO Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and Transit Advisory Committee (TAG), respectively. The completed Plan will be sent to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) in December, 2007. ATTACHMENTS 1. Sheet with MPO contact information and sign-up form for E-Newsletter 2.
