Briefly explain what you believe are the three most important issues facing this board or
commission, and how do you believe this board or commission should address each
issue?
1. In researching the Women's Commission, I have realized that the Commission is
turning over board members quite often. I would suggest that the Commission
hand pick women who are active in the community yet willing to help a
movement to create a better atmosphere for women while working toward a
greater cause. By hand picking the women, there is a better chance that those
chosen will be willing to apply and serve.
2. According to the Women's Commission's Work Plan networking within the city
to publicize the name change for the commission is one focus for 2006. Because I
believe that this is an important step that the Commission should take, I would
suggest supplying each board member with speaking points referring to what the
Commission is trying to accomplish and how they are extending help and/or
resources to women in the community.
3. Finally, I believe that promoting the Women's History Month Essay Contest and
Marcile N. Wood Award through the use of the City and Commission website as
well as sending out multiple press releases to all Fort Collins related publications.
This alone would help with the recognition of the Commission throughout the
Fort Collins community.
