Why do you want to become a member of this particular board or commission? I want to become more involved in m
community and I have a great interest in Natural Resources I want to be part of the City's effort to safeguard
the environment preserving the quality of life we eniov in Colorado
Briefly explain what you believe are the three most important issues facing this board or commission, and how do you
believe this board or commission should address each issue?
1) Preserving habitats, environmental quality and quality of life while allowing growth to continue. Growth is inevitable
in the Front Range. We have to keep finding creative ways to strike a balance. I believe qrowth can be managed
and the economy kept vital without sacrificing the environment. I think whole new industries are going to spring up
in America which involve renewable energy, recycling, maintaining soil and water quality, etc. which will point us in
the direction of sustainability and a healthy economy .
p) Water quality and maintaining the river it flows through the city. I think the parks and trails along the river are a great
example of wise use of this resource. We need to continue to preserve the river habitat for wildlife as well as make
it a place people can enjoy. Of course, water quality issues go far bevond the river and we will see increasing
_pressure on our water resources in the future. We need to manage water for growth as well.
3) Continued acquisition of Open Space, natural areas and greenbelts. I really like the way the City has worked with
the County and other entities to develop opportunities to create these natural areas which are so important to wildlife
and people as well. Fort Collins is a model for many other communities and I would like to see this effort sustained.
List any abilities, skills, certificates, specialized training, or interests you have which are applicable to this
board or commission:
BS in Zoology (1984) CSU. Knowledge of soils and the importance of sustainability in natural resources. Member of
Audubon Society, National Wildlife Federation, Sierra Club, Environment Colorado and The Natural Resources
Defense Council.
Please specify any activities which might create a serious conflict of interest if you should be appointed to this board
or commission:
As a Federal Employee in the Dept of Agriculture I cannot attempt to influence Federal Agriculture policies or lobby
for or against them in a political context. I also cannot serve as a representative of the Dept of Agriculture. I would
be serving as a private citizen.
Have you attended a meeting of the board or commission you are applying to or talked to anyone currently on the board?
❑Yes l8(No
Comments: I don't have any experience with city government but would really appreciate the opportunity to get involved
learn about the process and serve as a board member.

are applying. Frequent non-attendant result in termination of the appointment
