RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends adoption of the Resolution. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This Resolution will change the current policy relating to the application and interview process for incumbents on boards and commissions. BACKGROUND Currently, incumbents file a"statement of intent"form with the Clerk's Office to notify Council of the boardmember's desire to remain on a board or commission for a second term. If a member of a board or commission desires to remain on the board, a second interview is not required. City Council has reviewed this policy and desires to change the current process to require incumbents to submit a new application at the end of the first term and to interview during the annual appointment process. Since boardmember terms are set for four years and Council liaison assignments could change during a boardmember's term,Council believes that it would be beneficial to interview all applicants to determine the best make-up for each board or commission.
