PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the week of September 17 marks the 218th anniversary of the drafting of the
Constitution by the Constitutional Convention; and
WHEREAS, it is the privilege and duty of the American people to commemorate the
anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America with appropriate
ceremonies and activities; and
WHEREAS,Public Law No. 915 guarantees the issuance of a proclamation by the President
of the United States ofAmerica, designating the week of September 17 of each year as Constitution
Week; and
WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens fully understand the provisions and principles
contained in the Constitution in order to support it,preserve it, and defend it against encroachment.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Doug Hutchinson, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim the week of September 17-23, 2005 as
CONSTITUTION WEEK
in the city of Fort Collins and urge all citizens to study the Constitution during that week and reflect
on the advantages of American citizenship.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
