HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 02/03/2009 - PROCLAMATION DECLARING ORDERLINESS AS THE CHARACTE Fort Collins PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the character quality of orderliness is a critical personal quality needed for lasting success; and - WHEREAS, we desire to build upon our heritage and make Fort Collins a place where families are strong, homes and streets are safe, education is effective, business is productive, neighbors care about one another, and citizens are free to make wise choices for their lives and families; and WHEREAS,we recognize that the health of this community depends upon all ofour citizens being able to endure in their activities and their associations; and WHEREAS,the tranquility and orderly operation and development of our City demand that we implement the key concept of orderliness: setting priorities to focus on the most beneficial outcomes; setting standards and procedures that will promote efficiency; getting organized by keeping everything in its place; avoiding clutter in order to eliminate distractions and improve priorities; dealing promptly with items and issues rather than delaying them; and WHEREAS, by following these suggestions for orderliness in our behavior, we as citizens individually and collectively can show genuine interest in one another, can build bridges that hold our community together and allow individuals to relate positively, can discover the needs of others, can show gratefulness when our own needs are met by them,and can honestly reciprocate in helping one another as we move boldly, yet patiently, into our future as a Culture of Excellence. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Doug Hutchinson, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim the character trait of ORDERLINESS "organizing personal habits and surrounding premises to achieve greater efficiency" as the community of character focus for the month of February 2009, in the City of Fort Collins.
