PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, good character is a critical personal quality needed for lasting success; and
WHEREAS, the residents of Fort Collins desire to build upon our heritage and make our
community a place where families are strong, homes and streets are safe, education is effective,
business is productive, neighbors care about one another, and citizens are free to make wise
choices for their lives and families; and
WHEREAS, communities function best when citizens understand their duties and
obligations as responsible individuals; and
WHEREAS, our ability to respond to needs within our homes, schools, workplaces, and
community is best when citizens demonstrate a commitment and internal motivation to fulfill
those duties and obligations regardless of the attitudes of others; and
WHEREAS, our reward as contributing citizens is realized when we experience the
inner satisfaction of doing our duties well.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Doug Hutchinson, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim the character quality of
RESPONSIBILITY
"Knowing and doing what is expected of me"
as the community of character focus for the month of October 2005 in the city of Fort Collins.
