PROCLAMATION
City of Fort Collins
WHEREAS, parks and recreation activities provide opportunities for young people to live, grow, and
develop into healthy, contributing members ofsociety; and
WHEREAS,parks and recreation enriches life experiences for older members of our community; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation generates opportunities for people to come together and experience a
sense of community through fun recreational pursuits; and
WHEREAS,parks, playgrounds, trails, open spaces, community and cultural centers, and historic sites
make communities attractive and desirable places to live, work,play, visit and contribute to our ongoing economic
vitality; and
WHEREAS,parks, greenways, and natural areas provide a welcome respite from our fast paced, high tech
lifestyles while protecting and preserving our natural environment; and
WHEREAS, parks and recreation improves our quality of life and helps make Fort Collins a beautiful,
healthy community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim July 2000
as
NATIONAL RECREATION AND PARKS MONTH
in the city of Fort Collins and encourage all citizens to celebrate by visiting our parks, using our trails and
participating in their choice of recreation activities with family,friends, and neighbors.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort Collins this 20th
