pity of Fort Collins PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the need for human service delivery in the Fort Collins communi y continues
to increase; and
WHEREAS, the Fort Collins Area United Way strives to assure that our communiy's
important human service needs of health, safey and human digniy are met in an atmosphere of
mutual respect and trust; and
WHEREAS, the 32 member agencies and 7 special projects of the Fort Collins Area United
Way reached out lastyear to people in need of human services, and
WHEREAS, the partnership role between the public and private non-profit organizations
is shifting to more of an emphasis on the need for charitable giving and volunteer contributions, and
WHEREAS, one of the traditional roles of the local Fort Collins Area United Way is to
conduct a majorfund raising campaign to meet the identified human service needs in the communi y,
and
WHEREAS, this year's campaign kick off began on June 15, 2000 and runs through
January 18, 2001.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the Ciy of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim August 24, 2000 as
UNITED WAYAWARENESS DAY
in the ci y of Fort Collins and urge citizens to become actively involved in the United Way
campaign drive and to support its member agencies through contributions or volunteer services.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the Ciy of Fort
