City of Fort Collins
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, "Annie the Railroad Dog"was a real dog who lived in Fort Collins from 1934
to 1948; and
WHEREAS,Annie's companionship and devotion not only enriched the lives of the railroad
workers who rescued her, but also welcomed the travelers whom she greeted at her home at the train
depot in Fort Collins; and
WHEREAS,Annie's welcoming spirit lives on in the form of a statue with an outstretched
paw, greeting patrons to the Fort Collins Public Library; and
WHEREAS,Annie's life continues to serve as an inspiration when she is remembered each
August at the "Annie Walk&Pet Fest"to raise funds for the children's library books and materials
collection.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Doug Hutchinson, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim Saturday, August 27, 2005 as
"ANNIE THE RAILROAD DOG"DAY
in the city of Fort Collins.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I, have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
Collins this 16th day of August, A.D. 2005.
