RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends adoption of the Resolution. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: A vacancy also currently exists on the Retirement Committee due to the resignation of Patti Teraoka. Councilmembers Azari and Byrne reviewed the applications on file and are recommending that Terry VanCleave be appointed to fill the vacancy with a term to begin immediately and to expire on June 30, 2001. A vacancy also currently exists on the Senior Advisory Board due to the resignation of Jeanne Whetstone. Councilmembers Azari and Kneeland conducted interviews from the applications on file. The Council interview team is recommending that George Kress be appointed to fill the vacancy with a term to begin immediately and to expire on June 30, 2001. RESOLUTION 99-19 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS MAKING APPOINTMENTS TO VARIOUS BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS WHEREAS, a vacancy also exists on the Retirement Committee due to the resignation of Patti Teraoka; and WHEREAS, a vacancy also exists on the Senior Advisory Board due to the resignation of Jeanne Whetstone; and WHEREAS, Council wishes to fill said vacancies. Why do you want to become a member of this board? As a long time employee,have some expertise and experience gained from coming up the ranks. Briefly,explain what you believe are the three(3)most important issues facing this board and commission, and how the board should address each issue. 1. Would like to address the future possibility of all employees(rather than only Fire&:Police) having the ability to participate I00%in the 401,rather than being limited to the City match of the Money Purchase Plan participation, then having only the 457 as a choice. With the 457,the bull: of the employees have no choice upon separation,to move the 457 away from the ICMA and their fees charged to manage the paper. 2. Would like to participate in pros and cons of GERC changes to allow Lump Sum Withdrawals upon separation. Would like to participate iri pros and cons of funding options for Cost of Living Adjustment(COLA) for retires. Through the years, I have observed numerous outstanding employees. I would like to favor offering retirees the best posible retirement for their years of meritorous service. 3. This Board provides such an opportunity and also deals with issues of interest to me in this stage of my life.People over 60 years of age comprise a significant portion of this community's population and thus play a major role in its economy. The concerns and problems of this age group are often unique and require representation by people who can empathize with thecae' issues. Briefly explain what you believe are the three most important issues facing this board or commission, and how do you believe this board or commission should address each issue? t) I have no particular axe to grind or any specific issue I want to pursue.Thus I can not easily identify three issues that I feel are the most important ones for this commission.I would first have to see which issues are brought before the Board.I feel the Hoard should respond to the concerns of others and not initiate issues on its own. 3) List any abilities,skills, licenses, certificates,specialized training, or interests you have which are applicable to this board or commission: I have done numerous research projects for the city and county and have led two major studies dealing with the economic impact that CSU has had on Fort Collins.
