City of Fort Collins PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, there are sound economic, environmental, and social reasons for local entities to encourage
recycling to reduce disposal costs,conserve resources and protect the environment. Local communities can do much
to reserve environmental degradation and contribute to building a healthy society; and
WHEREAS, Colorado State University is recognized as a top research university. Interest in the
environment runs deep among both the campus and the Fort Collins community. Colorado's environment serves as
an "outside" classroom for Colorado State University. It teaches students by showing commitment to the
environment by teaching, research, and day-to-day operations. The Departments of Housing and Dining Services
and Facilities Management, as well as the Associated Students of Colorado State University (ASCSU) commit to
support the America Recycles Day Recycling 2004 Campaign through the following actions:
Encourage and increase student participation in the optional purchase of Wind Power for the
Residence Halls and Apartments at Colorado State University;
Encourage and increase awareness of Earth life through engaging programs and activities that
promote sustainable living;
Conduct educational programs to promote recycling as a means ofpreservation; and
Strive as individuals in our daily life to help with the care of the Earth and to make choices in our
daily conduct that will foster harmony, lessen pollution, and diminish waste and assist nature.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim November
15, 2004 as
AMERICA RECYCLES DAY
in the city of Fort Collins and hereby encourage all residents, businesses, and institutions to recognize America
Recycles Day 2004 by celebrating peace and care of the Earth and helping to restore and renew the wonder of life
on our planet—one human family, one Earth.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort Collins this 19th
