RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends adoption of the Ordinance on Second Reading.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Ordinance No. 161, 1999 which was unanimously adopted on First Reading on November 2, 1999,
gives Council the authorization to cancel a regularly scheduled Council meeting,

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The purpose of this proposed Code change is to clearly state the City Councirs ability to cancel a
regularly scheduled Council meeting.

BACKGROUND:
The City Code provides in Secti6n`2-28(a)that regular meetings of the City Council shall be held
on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Occasionally, because of holiday seasons or other
scheduling conflicts, it is desirable and necessary for the Council to cancel a previously scheduled
regular meeting. The proposed amendment is being recommended because the City Code does not,
at present, explicitly authorize such cancellations.
