HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 07/06/2004 - PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF JULY 11-17, 2 Mayor ,a I City of Fort Collins PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the week of July 11 -17, 2004 has been designated as a Week of Hope; and WHEREAS, 400 plus youth and adult are coming to the greater Larimer County area to volunteer a week of their summer with nonprofit agencies in Fort Collins, Colorado; and WHEREAS, the motivation behind these volunteer actions is to develop a servant's heart in all those who take part; and WHEREAS, these youth and adults have come from church youth groups around the nation to put their Christian faith in action; and WHEREAS, the elderly, disabled, or impoverished individuals and families of our community have basic needs they are often unable to meet and therefore look to area nonprofit agencies to help meet these needs; and WHEREAS, the nonprofit agencies in our community do incredible work everyday with these local individuals and families, but often lack the volunteers needed to accomplish some of their desired services; and WHEREAS, the Group Workcamps program has worked with local agencies to bring these groups together to give a Week of Hope to the people of the greater Larimer County Area. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim July 11-17, 2004, as a WEEK OF HOPE in the City of Fort Collins and urge the citizens of Fort Collins to honor and recognize those agencies who help the less fortunate of our community and give some of their time, anytime of the year, to help those in need.
