RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends adoption of the Resolution. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY At its July 6, 2004 meeting the City Council adopted Resolution 2004-085 which established a Citizen Advisory Committee to participate in the executive search process for the City Manager. The committee is to consist of seven (7) members who are residents of the Fort Collins' Growth Management Area and shall represent a cross-section of the Fort Collins' community. The committee shall dissolve following the final selection of a City Manager. A revised Resolution will be provided upon confirmation that suggested members are interested and willing to serve. RESOLUTION 2004-100 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS MAKING APPOINTMENTS TO THE CITIZEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR THE EXECUTIVE SEARCH PROCESS WHEREAS,City Manager John F.Fischbach resigned his position effective June 15,2004; and WHEREAS, the City Council will engage in a search for a new City Manager; and WHEREAS, to conduct an effective search, the City Council wishes to receive input from both the citizens of Fort Collins and City staff members; and WHEREAS, by adoption of Resolution 2004-085 on July 6, 2004, Council established a citizen advisory committee, consisting of seven members, to participate in the executive search process, which committee shall consist of residents of the Fort Collins Growth Management Area who shall represent a cross-section of the Fort Collins community; and WHEREAS, the role of the citizen advisory committee will be(1)to provide a community perspective regarding information to be used in the development of the City Manager position profile; and (2) to conduct panel interviews with the final candidates and provide feedback to the City Council on the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1. That the following named individuals are hereby appointed as members of the Citizen Advisory Committee, who shall serve until such time as final selection of a City Manager is made: Section 2. That the following named individuals are eligible to be appointed to serve as members of the Citizen Advisory Committee if any of the persons named in Section 1 above are unable to accept or complete their appointment to the Citizen Advisory Committee: Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins held this 17th day of August, A.D. 2004. Mayor ATTEST: City Clerk RESOLUTION 2004-085 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ESTABLISHING A CITIZEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR THE EXECUTIVE SEARCH PROCESS WHEREAS,City Manager John F.Fischbach resigned his position effective June 15,2004; and WHEREAS, the City Council will engage in a search for a new City Manager; and WHEREAS,to conduct an effective search, the City Council desires to use all sources of information that are available to it,including the citizens of Fort Collins and staff members; and WHEREAS,Council wishes to establish a Citizen Advisory Committee to participate in the executive search process. NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: 1. That a Citizen Advisory Committee is hereby established for the following purposes: a. to provide a community perspective regarding information to be used in the development of the City Manager position profile; and b. to conduct panel interviews with the final candidates and provide feedback to the City Council on the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate. 2. That said Citizen Advisory Committee shall consist of seven (7) members who shall be residents of the Fort Collins Growth Management Area and shall represent a cross-section of the Fort Collins community. 3. That said Citizen Advisory Committee shall be automatically dissolved following the final selection of a City Manager.
