City of Fort Collins PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, homecoming is a time for alumni to return to their alma mater to celebrate,
reminisce and rekindle friendships and for students to show support and pride for their school;and
WHEREAS, the community homecomingparade and other homecoming events are unique
in bringing together members of the Fort Collins family; and
WHEREAS, the homecomingparade has grown every yearsince 1994, and as Fort Collins
grows, the homecoming parade remains one of our few community traditions; and
WHEREAS, bringing Colorado State University, Front Range Community College and
Poudre School District students together provides a wonderful experience because our diversity
makes us a stronger, more interesting community; and
WHEREAS,thisyear's theme of"Community Homecoming2004: The SpiritofAdventure"
allows schools, businesses and organizations across the community to share diverse adventures that
are special to them, thereby celebrating the things that both make us unique and bring us together
as a community; and
WHEREAS, the students of Colorado State University, Poudre School District and Front
Range Community College along with the City of Fort Collins, Downtown Business Association,
Veterans' Activities Committee and Fort Collins Senior Center all work together on these
community-wide events.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim September 22 through October 19, 2004 as the annual
COMMUNITY HOMECOMING CELEBRATION
and encourage citizens to attend the various events planned for Community Homecoming Month.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
Collins this 21st day of September, A.D. 2004.
