PROCLAMATION
Citv of Fort Collins
WHEREAS, the need for human service delivery in the Fort Collins community continues
to increase; and
WHEREAS, the Fort Collins Area United Way strives to assure that our community's
important human service needs of health, safety and human dignity are met in an atmosphere of
mutual respect and trust, and
WHEREAS, the 36 member agencies of the Fort Collins Area United Way reached out last
year to people in need of human services, and
WHEREAS, the partnership role between the public and private non-profit organizations
is shifting to more of an emphasis on the need for charitable giving and volunteer contributions; and
WHEREAS, one of the traditional roles of the local Fort Collins Area United Way is to
conduct, a major fund raisingcanupaign to meet the identified human service needs in the community;
and
WHEREAS, this year's campaign kick off began on September 10 and runs through
November 17.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim October 5, 1999 as
UNITED WAY AWARENESS DAY
in the city o,,' Fort Collins and urge citizens to become activeb7 involved in the United Way
campaign drive and to support its member agencies through contributions or volunteer services.
