PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, historic preservation is an effective tool for managing growth, revitalizing
neighborhoods, fostering local pride, and maintaining community character while enhancing
livability; and
WHEREAS,historicpreservation is relevantfor communities across the nation, both urban
and rural, and for Americans of all ages, all walks of life, and all ethnic backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, it is important to celebrate the role ofhistory in our lives and the contributions
made by dedicated individuals in helping to preserve the tangible aspects of the heritage that has
shaped us as a people; and
WHEREAS, "Heritage Matters" is the theme for Colorado Archeology and Historic
Preservation Month, 2004, cosponsored by the City of Fort Collins and the representative groups
of the Heritage Network of Fort Collins.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim the month ofMay as
PRESER VA TION MONTH
in the city of Fort Collins and call upon our community to join theirfellow citizens across Colorado
in recognizing and participating in this special observance.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
