City of Fort Collins PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the number ofelderly and disabledAmericans is dramatically increasing;and
WHEREAS, all citizens are impacted by the past and present contributions of America's
elderly and disabled people; and
WHEREAS,we salute our community's citizens now residing in nursing facilities, many of
whom planted the seeds that made our community grow and prosper; and
WHEREAS, nursing facilities provide caring and supportive services that make quality of
life possible for our loved ones; and
WHEREAS,memberfacilities ofthe Colorado Health Care Association areprovidinga host
ofactivities in observance ofNational Nursing Home Week,guided by this year's theme "Embracing
our Heritage, "beginning on Mother's Day, May 9.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim the week of May 9-1 S, 2004 as
NATIONAL NURSING HOME {WEEK
in the city of Fort Collins and encourage our community's citizens to visit friends and loved ones
who reside at these facilities and to help honor and serve the individuals who laid the foundations
of Fort Collins by participating in this years'observance at Columbine Care Center East.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
