HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 05/02/2000 - PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF MAY 6-12, 200 Mayor City of Fort Collins PROCLAMATION WHEREAS,2.2 million registered nurses in this country, 25,000 being licensed in the state of Colorado, represent our nation's largest health care resource; and WHEREAS,each day, throughout the country, these professionals provide the highest quality care for Americans in a variety of settings; and WHEREAS, the demand for nursing services is greater than ever because of an aging America, the industry's ability to sustain life through increased technology, and changes in the settings where health care is delivered, including home care and other outpatient services; and WHEREAS,there is a projected need for 600,000 additional nurses during the next decade, including advanced practice specialists and nurse practitioners to meet the increasingly complex needs of health care consumers in this country; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the community of Fort Collins to recognize the accomplishments of nurses and their efforts to improve our health care system and to demonstrate our appreciation for their efforts on our behalf. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim the week of May 6 -12, 2000 as NATIONAL NURSES WEEK in the city of Fort Collins.
