City of Fort Collins
WHEREAS, the Association of Records Managers andAdministrators(ARMAInternational)is the leading
professional association in the growing field of strategic records and information management;and
WHEREAS, ARMA International offers a variety of continuing education opportunities, including local
meetings and seminars on records and information management topics;and
WHEREAS, ARAM International was founded in 1955 as a not-for-profit association serving more than
10,000 information management professionals and 150 chapters in the United States, Canada and over 30 nations
worldwide; and
WHEREAS, the mission of ARAM International is to provide education, research, and networking
opportunities to information professionals, to enable them to use their skills and experience to leverage the value
of records, information, and knowledge as corporate assets and as contributors to organizational success; and
WHEREAS, the Northern Colorado Chapter ofARMA International was chartered in April of 1984 and
provides quality local networking opportunities and local activities and events that are ofbenefit to this community
and to numerous public and private sector organizations within Fort Collins and other regional communities;and
WHEREAS, ARMA International has designated the month of April, 2004 as Records and Information
Management Month to commemorate and recognize the importance ofprotecting vital records and information;and
WHEREAS, the Northern Colorado Chapter ofARMA International will hold an educational seminar on
April 16,2004 at the University ParkHolfdayInn in Fort Collins,entitled"Managing Electronic Records,"that will
feature Dr. William Saffady,Professor in the School of Computer and Information Science,Long Island University
and a leading authority in the field of electronic records management;and
WHEREAS, proper records and information management is of vital importance to the continuity and
effective operations ofgovernments, businesses, and other organizations.
NOW, THEREFORE,I,Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim the month of
April 2004 as
Records and Information Management Month
in the City of Fort Collins and do hereby encourage local organizations,governments, and businesses to recognize
the importance of protecting and managing vital records and information.
