Why do you want to become a member of this particular board or commission? I have been working vecy hard for a number of years at expanding my knowledge and as I get closer to completing my formal education I am looking for more ways to sharp, what 1 have learned and for nppartnnities that will allow for my continued growth Briefly explain what you believe are the three most important issues facing this board or commission, and how do you believe this board or commission should address each issue? f) 1 One issue that I think is important to this commission is continued community support and involvement I know that the commission recently had a number of vacancies. I think it is really important to educate the community on the work that the commission does and why the commission is so important. Teachina a course called Gender in the Economy at CSU. I know that many of my students do not realize how significant of a role Gender plays in all of our lives and how important it is to have organizations such as Commission on the Statirc of Woman that are Innkingni it fnr the rights of women 2) 2.A second issue that I think is really important is developing greater connections with other women's organizations within the community. I think that the commission should strength the connections it currently has and look for new ones. In particular. I think the commission should expand its relationship with CSU by working with the Office of Women's Programs and Studies and encourageg students to get involved in the efforts of the nnmmigsinn 3) 3. Finally. I think that the commission needs continue and expand its work on areas particularly 0mpacting women such as access to duality. affordable child care. iob opportunities.welfare reform reauthorization. and many more. The commission has a lot of potential in chanoino the lives of the women in Fort Collins and informing others about important issues. All of this can be done through increased research and sharing of this information.
