MEMORANDUM

RE: East Prospect Road Project
At its April 21'meeting, the Transportation Board discussed the East Prospect Road project.
After hearing the staff presentation the Board elected 8-0, with three absent, to recommend
• that Council approve the East Prospect Road Project plan. The Board would like to
emphasize the following points:
1. Limiting the footprint of the roadway while maintaining the 115' right-of-way is
very important due to the environmentally sensitive areas on either side of the
roadway.
2. We are pleased that the construction of this project will be conducted such that
the materials used for this phase will not be wasted if a second phase of the
project is needed to widen the roadway at a later time.
3. The Engineering staff has done a good job of taking a team approach with this
project by incorporating the Natural Resources staff on wetlands mitigation and
the building of the trail to accompany the roadway.
4. All modes (pedestrian, bicycle and automobiles) are served by incorporating the
trail, and if the trail continues to adequately serve these needs, the ultimate
footprint of the roadway may be reduced by not building the adjoining sidewalks.
Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this important matter. For more information
or discussion, please feel free to contact me or one of the other Board members.
