HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 09/05/2000 - PROCLAMATION DECLARING SEPTEMBER 15-16,2000 AS VOL Mayor PROCLAMATION City of Fort Collins WHEREAS, the need for human service delivery in the Fort Collins community continues to increase, and WHEREAS, the public and private non-profit human service agencies of Fort Collins reached out lastyear to people in need of human services, and WHEREAS, the Volunteer Center of First Call ServiceNet strives to assure that our community's important human service needs of health, safety and human dignity are met in an atmosphere of diversity, mutual respect, and trust; and WHEREAS, the public and private non-profit human service agencies working to protect the environment, support the arts, and work with youth reached out lastyear to improve the quality of life in our community; and WHEREAS, the partnership role between the public and private non-profit organizations is shifting to more of an emphasis on the need for volunteer contributions; and • WHEREAS, volunteerism fosters charitable giving; and WHEREAS, one of the leading roles of the Volunteer Center will be to connect and build relationships between volunteer groups and individuals and the identified non-profit service needs of the community through the annual Days of Caring. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim September 15 and 16, 2000 as VOLUNTEER CENTER DAYS OF CARING in the city of Fort Collins and urge citizen to become actively involved in the Volunteer Center and Day of Caring, and to support its member agencies through volunteering.
