MULBERRY- LEMAY
MULBERRY & LEMAY ROUNDABOUT - PROJECT UPDATE
Fort Collins City Council
August 15, 2000
The Roundabout project planned for the intersection of Mulberry Street (State
Highway 14) and Lemay Avenue is back on track. The Colorado Department of
Transportation (CDOT) recently approved the conceptual design for this
innovative project and the City of Fort Collins and CDOT are moving forward with
the next stages of the project.
The goal of this project is to improve the safety and performance of this vital
intersection for today's traffic volumes as well as for future traffic growth.
Project improvements include the construction of the roundabout at the
intersection of Mulberry and Lemay as well as a pedestrian/bicycle bridge over
the Poudre River and a walkway along the north side of Mulberry connecting to
Riverside.
• Project Schedule:
Final Design - completed this Summer
Construction - October through December
Completion - January 2001
Total cost: approximately $2,000,000.
Look for upcoming information on this project on Channel 27, local newspapers,
and traveling road show events around the Fort Collins community. We welcome
your comments and suggestions for assisting us with creating effective public
information tools. Specifically, what types of information (brochures, television
ads, newspaper articles, etc.) would help you, your employees, your customers,
delivery services, etc. to become familiar with using this roundabout intersection?
For more information you may also check out the City of Fort Collins website at
ci.fort-collins.co.us or contact the project manager, Eric Bracke, City Traffic
Engineer, phone number: 224-6062.
