STUDY SESSION AGENDA
August 24, 1999 6:00 p.m.
1. Call Meeting to Order.
2. County Regional Transportation Capital Expansion Fees. (6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.)
Staff is requesting Council discussion and feedback on the following:
1. Does the Council have any questions or concerns about the proposed County fees?
2. What additional information would be helpful to Council prior to considering this item
at a regular meeting?
3. Discussion of the current solid waste reduction and recycling program and implemention of an
interim waste reduction plan. (6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.)
Staff would like feedback from Council on the following questions:
1. Does the Council agree in concept with the need to continue the City's role in optimizing
citizens' recycling and waste reduction efforts?
2. Do the measures in this interim plan seem practical,cost effective and do they satisfy the
Council's interests in assisting citizens' recycling and waste reduction efforts?Are there
other projects for recycling and waste reduction that should be added to the interim plan,
or any that should be removed?
3. Shall staff return to the Council this fall with a resolution that increases the City's policy
on diverting waste from landfill disposal over a ten-year period to 50%, and updates the
integrated solid waste reduction policies adopted in 1995?
4. Other Business.
