PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS,prejudice and discrimination are powerful contributing factors to many ofour
society's and community's problems; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins is strongly committed to the eradication of prejudice
and discrimination against any person; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins encourages the celebration and acceptance of
differences; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins Human Rights Advocacy and Education Office, the
Multicultural Commission and the Human Relations Commission work to promote acceptance and
respect for diversity and to discourage discrimination within the city of Fort Collins; and
WHEREAS, this year marks the 55th anniversary of the United National signing of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the declaration of December 10 as International
Human Rights Day to help ensure basic rights and freedom for all people.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Martinez, Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
proclaim December 10, 2003 as
HUMAN RIGHTS DAY
in the city of Fort Collins and urge all citizens to recognize how diversity enriches and strengthens
our community.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the City of Fort
Collins this 2nd day of December, A.D. 2003.
