HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL - PROCLAMATION - 10/17/2000 - PROCLAMATION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 23-31 Mayor City of Fort Collins PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, alcohol and drug abuse is one of the greatest threats to the future of our Nation; and WHEREAS, visible, untied prevention programs and activities involving communiy members, families, businesses andyouth must be implemented in order to reduce the demand for, the acceptance of and the abuse of drugs and alcohol; and WHEREAS, TEAM Fort Collins is sponsoring the National Red Ribbon Campaign to raise awareness in our communiy; and WHEREAS, the National Red Ribbon Campaign will be celebrated in every communiy in America during Red Ribbon Week, encouraging citizens to pledge to support this year's these, "Together, Healthy and Drug-Free'; and WHEREAS, businesses, government, law enforcement, schools, religious institutions,youth, senior citizens, sports teams,families and individuals will demonstrate their commitment to a drug free, healthy lifesyle by wearing and displaying Red Ribbons during this week-long campaign; and • WHEREAS,the communiy of Fort Collins, the PoudreSchoolDistrict and LarimerCounyfurther commits its resources to ensure the success of the Red Ribbon Campaign. NOW, THEREFORE,I,Ray Martinez, Mayor of the Ciy of Fort Collins, do hereby proclaim the week of October 23-31, 2000 as RED RIBBON WEEK in the ci y of Fort Collins and encourage all citizens to participate in drug prevention education activities, making a visible statement that we are strongly committed to a drug free communiy.
