SUBJECT:
Resolution 2003-107 Authorizing the Lease of City-Owned Property at 812 North Shields Street.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends adoption of the Resolution.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Rent collected from this lease will result in approximately $9,600 in unanticipated revenue to
Equipment Fund Reserves. Tenant will pay all utility expenses.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City purchased this parcel of land,including house and out buildings, as part of the Operations
Services Master Plan. Staff recommends leasing this site until the improvements included in the
Master Plan are constructed to discourage vandalism and to lower City costs to maintain the site.
The site had been leased for two years and that tenant has moved. Staff will be advertising the
property for rent in October. The lease will be in effect for one year and will give the City the option
to renew the lease for an additional year.
RESOLUTION 2003-107
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE LEASE OF CITY-OWNED
PROPERTY AT 812 NORTH SHIELDS STREET
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins is the owner of property at 812 North Shields Street,
Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado (the "Property"); and
WHEREAS, the City purchased the Property for facilities provided in the Operations
Services Master Plan to be constructed at a later date; and
WHEREAS,the City desires to lease the Property for a term of one year,with the City having
the option to renew for an additional year, at a monthly rate of at least $800; and
WHEREAS, the lease of the Property is beneficial in that it will discourage vandalism and
reduce the City's costs to maintain the Property; and
WHEREAS, under Section 23-114 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins, the Council is
authorized to lease any and all interests in real property owned in the name of the City,provided that
Council first finds that the lease is in the best interests of the City.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That the Council hereby finds that the lease of the Property at 812 North
Shields Street as provided herein is in the best interests of the City.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a lease agreement for
the Property, consistent with the terms of this Ordinance, together with such additional terms and
conditions as the City Manager,in consultation with the City Attorney,determines to be necessary
and appropriate to protect the interests of the City.
